Want to get your best bang for your buck? The Magic Spiked Coin may be your best bet. I've been able to teach 3-year-olds how to do this, however there may be some small pieces. They'll be able to fool their friends, and if you haven't seen this before, they just might fool you, because yes, this does fool smart adults!

The Effect:

You place a coin (you can use a real half dollar, or use the supplied plastic coin) into the round box. There are holes at the top and bottom of this little box.

Next, one by one you put the little plastic "nails" through the coin. They are solid and can be inspected by the audience. Amazingly, the nails penetrate right through the coin to the other side. 

Why we like it:

It's nice to do a trick that fools yourself. This is one of those tricks. You'll see kids playing with it again and again because it appears so impossible. We also like the simple magic tricks that often will fool the adults as well. Even after you learn the secret, you'll enjoy the trick because of the incredibly simple secret that managed to fool you.

It's really, really easy to do! A great trick to give to a kid so they can practice what they are saying, and not fumbling with how the trick works. A great starter magic trick.
